Prarambh – Pune

Prarambh started with a very simple concept “To do something rather than discussing and cribbing about the situation”.

The only focus is to make kids interested in useful things, trying to show them a different world, in which lots of possibilities exist.

(a) Educate children to achieve their potential

(b) Teach them moral lessons

(c) Play with them

(d) Ensure an all-round development of kids

The fort of Anjaneri, being the birthplace of lord ‘Hanuman’, has a great historical importance. Lord Hanuman was the son of ‘Pavan’ (the wind) and ‘Anjani’, and hence the fort is called as ‘Anjaneri’. Anjaneri is one of the important forts in the ranges of Tryambakeshwar near Nasik.

Panipatacha Mahasangram – A lecture series by great Historian Shri.Ninadrao Bedekar

Dear All,

It was on 14 January 1761 that The Great Third Battle of Panipat was fought on the terrain of Panipat which is about 100 Kms from Delhi. The battle witnessed collision of two mighty powers – strong army of Marathas led by Sadasaaivro Bhau Peshwa & the invading army of Afghans led by Ahmad Shah Abdali.

The Third battle of Panipat is considered to be one of the largest battles fought in the 18th Century. This Battle saw a massive number of casualties and deaths in a single day, perhaps unmatched even today in the later wars. It is believed that between 60,000–70,000 were killed in fighting, while numbers of the injured and prisoners taken vary considerably. The battle turned out to be catastrophic for the Marathas who not only lost the battle in a worst possible manner, but had to witness culmination of their efforts of making advances in the North.

The extent of damages from this battle to Maharashtra were so immense that the Marathi term “Sankrant Kosalali” (??????? ??????), meaning “Sankranti has befallen us”, is said to have originated from the events of this battle There are some verbs in Marathi language related to this loss as “Panipat zale” (?????? ????) [a major loss has happened] This verb is even today used commonly in our language. Another common pun. that has originated from the outcome of the battle is “Aamchaa Vishwaas Panipataat gela” (???? ??????? ???????? ????) [we lost our own (Vishwas) faith since Panipat].

Needless to say,The third battle of Panipat has got enormous importance in the History of Marathas.

SENATE (Social Engineering and Advanced Technical Education) – kolkata

I am associated with an NGO called SENATE (Social Engineering and Advanced Technical Education).

SENATE is an organisation based in Kolkata working across almost all the districts of West Bengal along with the different departments of Government of West Bengal. Our recent area of work is in two districts of the Sunderban Islands. The economy in this region is currently very vulnerable in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Aila (May 2009) which had destroyed all the farmland and has had severe long run impact on the fertility of the land. This region also does not have any electricity.

We at SENATE are currently involved in giving training to the Women in this region through Self Help Groups to make them into entrepreneurs and have alternative livelihood options on a long term and sustainable basis. We have trained them and still training in different islands of Sunderbans in making newspaper and hand made paper bags, folders involving NIFT designers as trainers to keep the products equipped with contemporary design and form. We are now trying to create market links for them with various retail chains and major commercial houses as well as exploring the international market.

I am also attaching pictures of the product and a catalogue. We are looking forward to mobilize the products through different channels and outlets.
