ONE ON ONE – Synopsis

One On One is a unique theatrical evening, bringing together nine of Bombay’s finest actors, written by five of the India’s most talented playwrights and directed by five of our best known directors. These monologues and dualogues in English and Hindi address subjects as varied as the state of India’s bureaucracy, the legalization of homosexuality, inedible airline food, the politics of road naming ceremonies, the joke of Ajmal Kasab’s trial and the experience of living in a big city…stories of modern India that amuse, annoy and concern us all.

Rajasthan Roots

Your browser may not support display of this image. Rajasthan Roots is a collective to promote the performing arts of Rajasthan by bringing folk to a multicultural platform, by creating a new folk blues, hip-hop, electronica, and appealing to various musical tastes and age groups. All the compositions are reflective of Rajasthan folk, using traditional instruments such as the Khamaicha, Nagara, Morchang, Khurtal, Bhapang and Algoza.

Rajasthan Roots provides folk musicians a platform for creativity and expression. By dissolving all boundaries, a musician is allowed the freedom to experiment and create music. By using technology the instrument or voice is modified, allowing an artist to realize his or her creative potential. Working with various artist communities around Rajasthan, an attempt is made to produce a contemporary sound to Rajasthan Folk, while keeping its essence intact.

Rajasthan Roots also works as an interface between the traditional musicians and international artists wanting to collaborate and share cultures. Recent collaborations have been with acclaimed musicians and producers like Shye Ben Tzur, Prem Joshua (Germany), Richard Horowitz (USA), Fernando Perez (Spain), Idan Raichel (Israel), Shri Live Band (UK).

The colorful and rhythmic dances of Rajasthan, such as the Kalbelia dance, Chari dance, Terah Taali dance, are choreographed to the contemporary folk music to provide the audiences an insight to the various dance forms of Rajasthan.

BEST IN STAND UP COMICS

Mandy Knight

Your browser may not support display of this image. Like a predatory aunt racing against the menopause to aggressively seduce, or rather corrupt, some innocent young boy, she launches a fast and furious tirade of filthy banter against the audience. Over-excited, over-sexed and over-the-top, Mandy Knight is as frisky as a terrier in heat. And there’s no denying her tongue is quick and sharp against those of whom she almost arbitrarily disapproves. She was the first female comedian to be MC at both Jongleurs and the Comedy Store.

Paul Sinha

Paul’s second full length solo show “Saint or Sinha” received widespread critical acclaim at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was nominated for the if.comedy award (formerly the Perrier).

Since then Paul has been in great demand, whether on TV shows such as Edinburgh and Beyond, World Stands up, Comedy Shuffle and Comedy Cuts, on Radio 4′s Loose Ends and the Now Show, or his numerous contributions to Radio 5 Live and Talksport, as well as having recorded for Shane Warne’s Ashes podcasts.

Dave Fulton (USA):

Fulton represents the tough talking, risk-taking school of Yankee comics…He’s intelligent, remarkably relaxed on stage and clearly out to create a bit of mischief.

The Vagina Monologues

Your browser may not support display of this image. This global phenomenon has become a brand name in India since its debut in 2003. This powerful play – an unusual blend of outrageous comedy and heart-breaking drama – tells the stories of women like you have never heard before. People keep coming back to see this play because each time the play and the performances reveal something new. From the Maharashtrian woman who met a man who “loved to look at her” to a Parsi woman who hasn’t been “down there since 1944″, this play promises to enlighten and entertain you like no other play out there right now. The piece de resistance of the evening is a medley of the Big “O.” It has been truly said of Eve Ensler’s masterpiece, that after watching it, no man or woman will ever be the same again.

If you would like to attend any of the shows, please feel free to get in touch with me, I can put your names on the guest list. Please find attached the synopsis of each shows that are mentioned above. Kindly revert back, if you require any further details regarding any of the above mentioned acts.

Tim clark Like many other comics, Tim had a “proper job” before breaking in to comedy. He worked for ten years as a social worker but also had designs on becoming a professional football player and was given a trial for Fulham. When he eventually found his real vocation it took him very little time to establish himself as one of the brightest sparks on the comedy circuit. Your browser may not support display of this image.

Addy Van Der Borgh Addy Borgh has that rare talent of making people laugh when he walks on stage. Addy is a great performer of highly acclaimed and original material. With brilliant timing and an array of voices and characters which animate and enliven even the most drab subject matter Your browser may not support display of this image.
